Environment & Linens
What We Do: On a rotation basis we wash/press and fold the used linens following weekend masses. The soiled linens container can be taken from John Champe following the 11:30 Sunday mass or from the parish office during office hours, cleaned and returned to the office for the following weekend. The scheduling is based on your availability. You can access the ministry online scheduling tool to check your dates and can request a sub for you if you become unavailable on any assigned date. To set the altar table for the celebration of mass is a privilege like no other.
Time Commitment: You can control your available weeks by providing any known commitments you have. The pick up, wash, press, fold and return of the soiled linens can be accomplished from Sun, following the last mass, thru Thurs office hours. The container of clean linens will be taken to Champe on Sat for set up along with other mass essentials by parish personnel.
Volunteer Ages: This special ministry is for adults only as it requires laundering and ironing. The procedure for handling of the sacred linens will be provided to you as they are washed and folded according to church instructions.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
What We Do: Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC) assists the ordinary ministers (priests and deacons) in the distribution of the Eucharist. This is done both at Sunday Masses, as well as, in the visitation of infirm or elderly parishioners in their homes or local healthcare facilities. Diocesan minimum age requirement is 21 and all sacraments of initiation [Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation] must be received with no canonical impediments.
Time Commitment: Regular Sunday Mass time. An additional hour per visit if tending to the homebound

What We Do: We pick up the prepared flower arrangement from South Riding Giant Flower Dept. on the Sat you are assigned around 4 pm and deliver it to John Champe auditorium between 4:30 and 5:00pm and place it in front of the altar.
We use a ministry software product to assign volunteers ( as per your available weekend dates). You can access the software to check your dates and if you find a conflict with a scheduled date you have an opportunity to request a sub.
Time Commitment: The flower pick up ministry does not require much time ( appx. 1 hr on the Sat assigned) but is time specific as the flower arrangement is prepared that afternoon and requires pick up for delivery to John Champe Auditorium from 4:30 - 5:00 and placed it in front of the altar.
